Irena Veisaite was the Borderland’s friend.
The Borderland prepared four events to commemorate her life and work.
In the garden of the Miłosz Manor in Krasnogruda there will be a special parcel, IRENA’S ROOM, dedicated to her. This went together with the official launch of the cooperation between the Lithuanian National Library in Vilnius and the Library of the Miłosz Manor in Krasnogruda. The special guests of the ceremony were two representatives of the Lithuanian National Library, Aušrinė Žilinskienė (the Director) and Ingrida Veliutė (the deputy Head of Academic Research and Strategic Development).
The Song of Porcelain cafe in the Miłosz Manor was also the place of the discussion, “For Living in Dignity”. The panelists, who had a talk about the heritage of Irene Veistaite included: Małgorzata Czyżewska, Rasa Rimickaitė, Marina Vildžiūnienė, Diana Vilytė, Audra Žukaitytė, Egidijus Aleksandravičius, Krzysztof Czyżewski, Vytautas Toleikis, Linas Vildžiūnas
The White SYnagogue in Sejny was the venue of the special concert devoted to the memory of Irena. The audience could listen to the piano music of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Ludwig van Beethoven, Mieczysław Wajnberg, Jörg Widmann and Grażyna Bacewicz performed by Onutė Gražinytė.
