As before, there are ten bilingual books with illustrations and engravings by Ukrainian and Polish artists. Each book is translated by a Polish poet. The first books were published on the day of the 111th anniversary of Czesław Miłosz’s birthday.
It might be good to quote the words of Krzysztof Czyżwski the initiator of the series: ‘The idea of the collection was the result of the war in Ukraine and stems from the belief that literature is not an autonomous entity, but it deeply resonates with the reality of the tragedy that bears the burden of the military conflict’
The idea of editing the Collection came up in the International Centre for Dialogue in Krasnogruda as a part of the Borderland/Ukraine programme. It is the initiative co-organized by the Jesava Publishing House from Lviv and the Pogranicze from Sejny/Krasnogruda.
The fourth series of the Facing the War series includes, among other poets, the books by Victoria Amelina and Maxim Krivtsov.
