The workshop was dedicated to the materials developed during the Changing Democracies project for use by teachers and educators, such as the documentary film, the online platform: https://www.changingdemocracies.eu/pl/narratives and the package of educational materials for use by teachers (lesson plans).
Weronika Czyzewska-Poncyljusz, project coordinator from the Polish side, talked about the project, shared her experience of working with young people using testimonies (interviews with transition survivors), and presented the resulting materials with the intention of inspiring their use in school lessons.
The goal of the “Changing Democracies” project is to contribute to the construction of a common European memory space in which it will become possible to communicate and explore the histories and memories of communism, dictatorships, resistance, transition, wars and peace. to better understand what processes are needed for modern democracy to more fully realize its promises and how active and causal citizenship can be imagined in different ways. These testimonies, gathered by local partners in their communities across the continent, have been integrated into a variety of outputs: an interactive website, a documentary film, a package of educational materials and an exhibition.
