The history of music: Opera Rara

Jarek Gawędzki is giving a talk about operas

The Borderland is happy to have hosted two beautiful sessions on the history of music. They were devoted to opera works and were prepared by Jarek Gawędzki.

The sessions were the beginning of the series of meetings when the participants present their personal passions and music interests.

We could listen to the works by several composers, such as Christoph Willibald Gluck, Bedrich Smetana, Friedrich von Flotov and Alfredo Catalani.

A week later the presented operas were composed by Antonio Salieri, Daniel Auber, Jules Massenet, Umberto Giorgiano and Franco Leoni.

Apart from listening to the recordings, the participants were introduced to the history of each of the pieces and their librettos.
